Austin-sibly Put Together

My first blog post on the road!

This road trip has been, by far, the best ever. I know I'm barely halfway through (by the time you read this, I will have left New Orleans for Nashville), but I already can't wait for my next one. It's been a treasure experiencing the different sceneries, climates, and cultures of other states. I had one other huge cross-country trip from Maryland to California, but that was 18 (gasp!) years ago, and roadtripping as an adult is so much cooler.

I shot these photos at the famed Graffiti Park at Castle Hill in Austin, Texas. It was really freaking cool to behold this behemoth of a community monument. People were contributing their own spray can works of art as I loitered there--I wanted to make my mark as well, until cops rolled by and shooed everyone away (boooo, this should be allowed). This art installation is only temporary, as its owners pay some $100k in taxes a year to keep it open. Check it out while you can!
