I want to get into the habit of updating you guys a lot, about my life in general. Not just fashion and travel posts and the like.
So! Without further ado: something I dabble in from time to time, and very much enjoy doing, is being in music videos. I love seeing everything that goes on behind the scenes (a lot of artistic creativity, but mostly absolute chaos, as with film production in general). And I've learned I love modeling-in-motion, or acting-without-speaking, or however you'd describe it.
This particular video is with Mario, one of my favorite R&B artists from back in the day (remember Let Me Love You?). He looks as young as ever, croons just as beautifully off the track, and has such a great personality. I'm still a fan.
My extensions were about to fall out right before shooting this video (lol), but I made them hold on for dear life because the next day was when I was supposed to go brown and I knew they'd want my hair to be pink for the video. I'm pretty obsessed with this braid magic; I wish I knew how to braid like this.
I also was the only person who wore exclusively what she brought (minus the cuff and the rag)! When casted, sometimes stylists ask you to bring your own things to supplement theirs (and you especially need to bring shoes). The stylist and I vibed so much she wanted me to wear everything I brought. Which makes me pretty proud, because look at all the other models--her style is on point.
The best part about this particular video was all this MELANIN. People of color dominated the set, not only in front of the camera, but behind the scenes as well. There's a token white girl and a token Asian, and I am perfectly fine with that. Let this black girl magic shine.
Here's the video I was in, the product of 12 hours of shooting. And, if you're curious, I've linked some other favorite videos (that I've had bigger parts in) below!
Porter Robinson - Lionhearted
Ella Eyre - Comeback
Stepdad - Got The Bite
Can't wait to shoot again :)
